How I Came Up with the Idea for The Pesky Fly - Part 1

Often folks want to know where the idea for a story came from and sometimes I’m not sure, but for The Pesky Fly, it came over time. My wife is a professor of language & literacy and one of her specialties is children’s literature. We have a lot of children’s books in our house, but our son is 25, so he isn’t reading them anymore. She primarily uses them in her classes. I had always played with the idea of writing a children’s book, because I enjoy them so much (especially reading them). I finally decided to go for it and write a story. I have a niece who is in first grade and I wanted her to be the main character in the story, but that was about as far as it went. I had no idea what I would write about and how she would be a part of the story. That is where the story begins, stay tuned for part 2 of how The Pesky Fly became a book.
